Getting Started

RI Child Outreach Screening - in RI, this developmental screening can be done annually to check for concerns in child development. If your child is enrolled in child care/preschool, they can access these services in school. Families can also access the screening if children are not in child care by reaching out to their local provider

RI Early Intervention (EI) Providers for Initial Referral - If you have a child under 3 with concerns, RI Early Intervention is a program that can help. Use this link to set up the inital referral and start the process of evaluation.

RI Early Intervention (EI) Eligibility - this webpage on the RIDE website talks about what is required for children to be eligible for Special Ed services (EI, ECSE, etc.) You'll also find links to other topics that might be helpful in navigating the Early Childhood Special Ed services offered by RIDE. 

RI Policies

RI Student Transportation Policy  - Transportation for SE children has become very challenging, and can prevent children from accessing appropriate services. Regulation 6.10.3 (A)(2)(d) states that students with disabilities can recieve transportation through their IEP.

Discipline in Schools - This page provides information about RI school discipline policies, including policies for students with disabilities. There is a different progression for students with disabilities, and their disability must be taken into account for disciplinary actions. This brochure also address physical restraint in schools.
